One of the obstacles to melon cultivation is availability seeds and high price seeds. This condition causes need assemble superior varieties with expected characters. study aims form a pure line certain characteristics can be proposed as new high-yielding variety in open-pollinated category. The research was conducted at Experimental Garden Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty Agriculture, Trunojoyo University, Madura, from September-December 2022. used randomized block design method. treatments were nine lines (PK-669, D-162, PK-361, PK-165, PK-114, D-029, D-5089, PK-211, comparison). Each treatment repeated three times, each experimental unit consisted 12 plants. Research data analyzed using analysis variance (ANOVA) HSD test α = 0.05. selection advancement by comparing character for generation. showed that results characterization ten S0-S4 generation on characters fruit length, diameter, flesh thickness, weight decreasing trend S4 (9.17 °brix) average sugar content there an increase not significantly different S3 (9.03 °brix), while number had value but occurred (372) (381) generations.
